1994 Political Quiz

I took this 1994 Political Quiz linked by Andrew Sullivan. I thought it was pretty fun, though some of the questions seemed slightly dated (but only slightly). I scored an 18 out of 40, which means I fall just on the liberal side. On the chart of public figures, I fell right between Bill Clinton and Colin Powell. (Keep in mind the quiz is from 1994.)

I received a 25, which put me on the somewhat conservative side, pictorially identified as the George Bush (41) category. Heh! I did struggle of course with questions that allowed me the options of A, B, or both, but not the obvious response "neither" and other questions where the question and options forced a false dichotomy or otherwise did not match up with the underlying reality of the issue in my head. But "somewhat conservative" is probably as reasonable a characterization as I could expect from a test that plots people's political views along a single dimension. (I admit that I had to totally fake the Haiti question; Haiti? What the hell? I've slept since 1994.)

A 32. I take their classifications with a grain of salt - for example, in what universe Ronald Reagan is as far right as you can get I don't know, but it isn't this one. We are talking about '94, where is Pat Buchanan? Newt? Phil Gramm?

So I'm way to the left of all of you. I rather be standing next to Bill though. :)

Also, I doubt if Hillary would be so far left today since she and John McCain have completely sold out to the right wing neocons in their bids for the White House.
